BAY APP IS BRILLIANT!

Apple smartphone users wishing to discover Thanet’s beaches and bays can now get all the information they need in cyberspace – thanks to an amazing new app.
The Thanet bay app, which was produced earlier this month (July), by Thanet District Council, is set to revolutionise the way that visitors learn about the area’s beach attractions.  It’s also complemented by an online ‘e-brochure’ containing the same information, but designed for non-smartphone users.
In the past, the council has produced dedicated, printed beaches and bays leaflets. But the app and ebrochure recognise the way that people increasingly rely on technology to access information.
Both the app and online brochure are being promoted via 25,000 postcards the council has produced, and these will be distributed in August through the regional publications of Kent and Surrey Life.
Those who use the app and e-brochure can access descriptions and facility details for each beach, a map showing their location and information on things to do, such as sailing, surfing and beach trips. Information on beach safety and advice on the best beaches for family fun are also provided.
The app and e-brochure also contain dedicated pages on the Thanet Coast Project and its events.
The council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Iris Johnston said: “When we market Thanet, we always think of our audience and the best way to access people.
“The smartphone app and e-brochure offer exciting new ways for us to remind everyone that Thanet has so much to offer. By making use of new technology we can tap into the enthusiasm of a whole new generation of potential visitors.
“The app and e-brochure have no geographical boundaries, so their potential is enormous. I’m sure that they will both prove to be an amazing success.”
Anyone wishing to download the app simply has to visit the App store online, and search for the ‘beaches and bays guide’. Alternatively they can click on the   link/banner within the beaches and bays section of the website www.visitthanet.co.uk/beaches-bays.
